Buta Singh favours enactment of Federal Law
Phagwara, Nov 4 (UNI) Former Union Home Minister Buta Singh has suggested that the Union Government should enact a Federal Law on the pattern of the US to curb militancy and maintain normal law and order in the country.
Commenting upon the proposed Police Act here today, he told mediapersons that there should be uniformity in the security forces.
''The police of all states should have a common uniform so that the it is known as Indian Police and not Punjab Police or Haryana Police'', he added.
The Police Commissionerate System should be evolved in all states to maintain peace and all police commissioners should be empowered with judicial powers for providing justice to every citizen. He also suggested that police should be empowered to execute CrPC.
Mr Singh who was also the Governor of Bihar stressed the need to modernise the security forces including the state police and para-military forces by providing them modern training, technology and weapons. He also suggested to increase the strength of the security forces in view of increasing population of the country.
