Businessman kidnapped in Howrah

Howrah, Nov 4 (UNI) A small time businessman identified as Sabbir Mallick (50) was allegedly kidnapped by a miscreant from Betaitola road market this afternoon, Howrah district Superintendent of police Niraj Kumar Singh said.

He said the miscreant had called the businessman from his house at Nibra under Domjur police station and later waylaid him to an unidentifed place.

He said one person was arrested in this connection and search was on to trace the businessman.

Family memebrs claimed the kidnapper wanted a ransom of Rs 9 lakh for release of the captive. However, the police denied having such information.
