Police officer escaped bid on life

Srinagar, Nov 4: A senior police officer escaped a militant bid on his life in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last evening, official sources said today.

They said militants resorted to indiscriminate firing at Pinglish near Tral, about 35 km from here in south Kashmir when Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama passing through the area.

The security guards of SSP also returned the fire and the exchange continued for about ten minutes.

The officer, however, escaped unhurt in the incident but his vehicle was damaged.

Later, Border Security Force (BSF) conducted search operation in the entire area. However, militants had managed to escape, they said.
