7 year wonder kid goes through a test to appear HSC
Bhubaneswar, Nov 04 (UNI) A team of experts has carried out a series of tests on the mental maturity and ability of seven year old Millennium Bismay to prove his competency for appearing the High School Certificate Examination in 2007.
The wonder kid had turned up yesterday at the office of the Board of Secondary Education to appear the test and prove his talent to qualify the standard to appear the examination.
The Board had to conduct a test on Bismay, who had not received any formal education, to determine whether he was capable to appear for the HSC exams as students below 14 years were not allowed to appear the examination.
Bismay's father Laxmikanta Behera, a Physical instructor in a school and mother a Sanskrit teacher, had approached the board to fix a day to conduct the test examination of their son so that he could appear the boards in 2007.
The experts from the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar and Utkal University 's Centre for Advanced Studies in Psychology, have conducted a series of tests to assess the wonder kid's social and mental development, motivational maturity and IQ to determine whether he was competent to sit in the HSC examination in 2007.
The tests were carried out on the basis of the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children and Ravens Coloured Progressive Matrics to arrive at the mental maturity of the boy.
Bismay, who appeared the two and half an hour written examination on eight papers, said '' I have answered almost all the 150 questions xcept a few in History and Mathematics.
However, Bismay's parents were dismayed by the way their boy was subjected to answer all the questions at one go though the students in examination were asked to write one paper in one sitting.
''I am very optimistic and confident that Bismay will definitely come out with flying colours and set a record of being the youngest one to appear the HSC exams with out any formal education,'' a proud Mr Behera said.
