119 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Punjab grain markets

Chandigarh, Nov 4 (UNI) About 119.77 lakh tonne of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Punjab till date as against 121.55 lakh metric tonne during the corresponding period last year.

Disclosing this here today Food and Supplies Minister Lal Singh said that out of the total arrivals, 27.69 lakh tonne was procured by Pungrain, 21.18 lakh tonnes by Markfed, 26.37 lakh tonne by Punsup, 11.47 lakh tonne by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and 13.11 lakh tonne by Punjab Agro Industries Corporation.

Food Corporation of India (FCI) had purchased 2.26 lakh tonne while 17.66 lakh tonne was procured by the private millers and traders.

Sangrur district was leading in paddy arrivals with 21.20 lakh tonne followed by Ludhiana district with 15.28 lakh tonne.
