Two women escape from sex racket in UAE
Kochi, Nov 3 (UNI) Two women, who escaped from the clutches of a sex racket in the UAE, alleged of an assault at the hands of some people who promised them a cleaning job at a hospital in Dubai.
Talking to reporters here yesterday, the women alleged that they were assured of jobs in the UAE through a travel agency here but were repeatedly assaulted by people who posed as recruiters.
The women paid Rs 60,000 each for the visa.
They accused three men of torturing them and locking them in a room for not succumbing to their demands to indulge in unlawful activities.
'' We reached Dubai on September 10 and were taken to a flat in Sharjah. There we were introduced to a woman by the name of Sanjana and she told us to take up prostitution.'' The women, who managed to contact Babu Antony of the youth wing of the Christian Service Society, were advised to reach the premises of the Indian Association in Sharjah.
As per the advice they managed to break free and contacted the Association and were flown back home with the help of the Indian Consulate.
Mr Babu said a complaint would be lodged with the police here.
He said the issue was brought to the notice of Indian Overseas Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi and Defence Minister A K Antony.
