TRS challenges BJP to set up Telangana unit
Hyderabad, Nov 3 (UNI) Senior Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader and former Union Minister of State for Rural Development A Narendra today challenged the BJP, which had promised creation of Telangana state, to first constitute a separate Telangana unit within the BJP.
The question of the BJP carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh would arise only if the NDA led by it came back to power in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, Mr Narendra told reporters here.
''If the BJP is sincere to the Telangana cause, it should form a separate Telangana BJP committee first,'' he added.
It may be recalled that BJP National spokesman Prakash Javdekar, launching its campaign for the by-poll to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat vacated by TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, claimed yesterday that only the BJP, which had 180 MPs, could form the separate state and no other party could do so.
