Scribes assaulted by doctors in Gaya

Gaya, Nov 3: Unhappy at visual coverage of an incident inside Magadh Medical College Hospital, junior doctors today engaged themselves in a scuffle with scribes and lensmen covering the violent outburst of relatives of a patient, who died in the hospital due to alleged negligence of the doctors.

District Police Superintendent Amit Kumar Jain said a scuffle between scribes and doctors ensued when the latter's plea to desist from making visual coverage of the incident went unheeded by the former, including cameramen.

Scribes lodged a complaint before the police wherein they alleged that doctors not only snatched away the camera of a photo journalist but also thrashed him, he maintained.

Earlier, Sofia Khatoon, wife of additional district judge of Munger S Ahmad, died during treatment as an indoor patient and her relatives had alleged that the death occurred due to negligence of the junior doctors.

Enraged relatives of the deceased had assulted the doctors for their alleged negligence in the treatment, Mr Jain added.
