Rs 770 cr to be spent for Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Delhi government will spend Rs 770 crore on building and strengthening infrastructural requirements in the city for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

In reply to a question by Surendra Kumar of the Congress, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely told the House that the money would be spent on various heads to improve and develop infrastructure for the 2010 Games.

Of this, Rs 270 crore would be spent on the Capital's transport system, 100 crore by the Urban Development Ministry, 45.70 crore for improving Delhi's health system by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and aother 75.12 crore by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Along with this, the Delhi Jal Board would spend Rs 14 crore and the New Delhi Municipal Corporation Rs 33.07 crore.

He also said the 10-year-old ban on recruitment of Physical Training Instructors in government schools had been lifted and the move to recruit 196 PTIs had begun.
