PM, Sonia arrive in TN

Chennai, Nov 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi arrived here by a special aircraft from New Delhi.

On a two-day visit to the state, Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi were accompanied by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Senior Congress Leader Veerappa Moily.

They were received at the airport by Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, his Cabinet colleagues, Chennai Mayor M Subramanian, Union Ministers P Chidambaram, G K Vasan, E V K S Elangovan, Dayanidhi Maran, A Raja, T R Baalu, R Velu, Venkatapathy, Tamil Nadu Congress President M Krishnasamy, Congress Lok Sabha members and State Legislators, PMK President S Ramadoss, MDMK Lok Sabha MPs Sippiparai Ravichandran and Krishnan and top police and revenue officials among others.

After the reception, they left for Raj Bhavan. Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi will participating in a number of programmes at Sriperumbudur near here tomorrow.

After completing the engagements, they will return to New Delhi late in the evening.
