Old couple murdered in UP capital

Lucknow, Nov 3 (UNI) Armed miscreants today bludgeoned to death a retired senior government official and his wife, besides wounding the old couple's domestic hand in Ghazipur area here today.

Police said the deceased Gulab Chand, 74, and his wife Saraswati, 65, were residents of Sector 19, Indira Nagar.

The couple were found murdered this afternoon, police added.

Mr Chand had retired about 15 yrs ago from a senior administrative position in the Uttar Pradesh secretariat.

The couple is survived by two sons.

While, one of Mr Chand's sons is serving as a Colonel in Indian Army posted in Bhopal, another retired from army as a Major. He is presently serving as a chief security officer in a bank here.

Police are still clueless on the motive behind the double murder.

Investigations are on.
