NE gets 13 crore for rural electrification
Aizawl, Nov 3 (UNI) The Power Ministry has released Rs 12.96 crore for rural electrification across the North East region under the non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR).
The funds would be utilised for the first phase of work in remote areas in all NE states, official sources said here today.
Of the total amount released, Rs 4.48 crore would be utilised to electrify 60 villages in Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 68 lakh for 20 villages in Asom, Rs 75 lakh for ten villages in Mehalaya. Two villages in Nagaland would be electrified at Rs 35 lakh, three in Mizoram at Rs 34 lakh, 20 villages in Manipur for Rs. 5.56 crore.
According to the rural electrification status in NE states, Nagaland is the only state, which has electrified all its villages followed by Mizoram with 99 per cent, Tripura 95.67 per cent, Manipur 93.63 per cent, Asom 77.30 per cent, Arunachal Pradesh 64 per cent and Meghalaya 55 per cent.
However, the household electrification in the NE region is only 39 per cent, the sources added.
