NCP senior leader murdered, five detained

Akola, Nov 3 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) senior leader from Akot Balasaheb Purushottam Ramchandra Sagne (50) was stabbed to death today.

Sagne, on his way back home from a hotel in the wee hours, was attacked by a group of assailants, said police. Five suspects have been detained in this regard. One of them is from Jalna district, while the others are from Akot.

Sagne owned a liquor shop in Akot and allegedly had an enmity with a local liquor baron, said police.

Meanwhile, the murder sparked off a public outrage in Akot with over 1000 people taking to the streets and demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
