More preference for rural technology to be given: CM

Palakkad, Nov 3 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Actuthanandan today said his government would give more preference to rural technology for producing electricity from wind and other non-conventional sources to meet power shortage.

Inaugurating a scheme of the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT) at Coyalmannam, he said the previous UDF government had not properly utilised funds granted by the Centre for producing power from non-conventioal sources.

Mr Achuthanandan said his government had granted Rs two crore for ANERT's rural technology centre for its first phase work.

Presiding over the function, Electricity Minister A K Balan said 25 acres of land would be acquired for constructing a permanent building for the centre.

In another function, the Chief Minister inaugurated the modernised 300 tonne cattle feed factory of MILMA at Malampuzha.

Mr Acthuthanandan also laid the foundation stone for a textile park at Kanjikode.
