Major tragedy averted on Srinagar airport road

Srinagar, Nov 3 (UNI) Police today averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants on the Srinagar Airport this afternoon.

Official sources an IED was kept in a water jug, which was kept near the naka post of state police at Iqbal Park to target security forces and other top government officials.

However, alert police personnel during the patrolling noticed it and immediately cordoned off the area after suspending traffic.

Later, the bomb disposal squad was summoned and the IED was defused.
