Lawyers demonstrate in support of city traders
New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) A forum of lawyers of the Supreme Court staged a demonstration to highlight the misery of traders in the capital.
The present imbroglio had risen because of a highly corrupt administration and the traders were having to face the trauma of facing bankruptcy, Ms Sonia Raj Sood, one of the protestors said.
All their efforts to uplift themselves spanning five decades had gone down the drain, thanks to the duplicity of the present administration, she added.
The forum had also written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and urged them to find an alternative remedy to the problem.
''We as lawyers are aware that corruption and personal aggrandisement is the root cause of this wanton economic buttering by babus and their political masters,'' the demonstrators said.
''We wish to make clear that personal gain is the root cause why showrooms and small traders eking out a living are being targetted because of the mall culture being welcomed with open arms,'' they added.
