Indo-German film festival in Bangalore from Nov 17

Bangalore, Nov 3 (UNI) The third edition of the Indo-German Film Festival will be held in the city for seven days from November 17, with the screening of the best of films produced in India and Germany, Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore, Director Evelin Hust said today.

Addressing a press conference here, she said the event, organised by the Goethe-Institute in association with the Film Ferenseh Fonds Bayern Bavaria and sponsored by Robert Bosch India Ltd, would support the cause of promotion of art and culture between the two nations.

She said 26 films, including 11 German, would be screened during the fest, with the slogan 'Two Nations-A Single Screen'. Of them, six would be children's films, three each from India and Germany.

Top German films from the recent past - 'Octoberfest', 'Sophie Scholl', 'The Final Days', 'The Shadow of Time', 'Napola', 'Off Beat', 'Winter Journey', 'A Pass from the Back' and 'The Wild Chicks' would be screened along with Indian films like National award winning 'Haseena', 'Beruy', 'Cyanide', 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara', 'Mando Meyer Upkhayan', 'Devara', 'Perumazhakkalam' and 'Daivanamathi'. The Indian films were drawn among Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi feature sections.

Ms Hust said delegations of directors, producers and actors would present their films and participate in Meet-the-Director sessions after the screenings. Besides, the event would witness a high-level trade interaction at a seminar 'Platform for Joint Venture in Film'.

This interaction was expected to provide a fillip to the film industry in Karnataka, with the participation of the National Film Development Corporation, national and local film distributors.

Robert Bosch India Ltd Managing Director Friedhelam Pickhard, who also spoke, said his company was actively supporting the promotion of classical Indian art forms, mainly through dances like Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Manipuri and Kathak, in its obligation to contribute to the enrichment of the city and society.
