IIT Roorkee annual convocation on Nov 11

Hardwar, Nov 3: The sixth annual convocation of IIT Roorkee will be held on November 11.

National Human Rights Commission member and former Supreme Court judge Justice Shivaraj V Patil will be the chief guest on the occasion, Madhureshji Madhur, chief PRO of the Institute, said.

Institute Director Prof SC Saxena will confer degress on nearly 1100 B Tech, B Arch, M Tech, M Arch, MURP, MSc, MBA, MCA and PhD students.

The Convocation will be presided over by Jai Prakash Gaur, Chairman, J P Group of Industries and Board of Governors.

IIT Roorkee inherits the glorious traditions of the erstwhile University of Roorkee and is the oldest technical institution of the country founded in 1847.

In the convocation, the Institute will honour Professor Bharat Singh, Professor Emeritus Water Resources Development and Management, IIT Roorkee and Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Roorkee, Professor S K Khanna, former Chairman, AICTE and former Vice-Chairman, UGC, Er Pradeep Baijal, Chairperson, TRAI and former Secretary Ministry of Disinvestments, Govt of India and Er Ravindra Kumar Singh, member Public Enterprises Selection Board and former Chairman, Railway Board with the distinguished alumni award.
