HC terms but strikes illegal., directs to withdraw

Kochi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today observed that the ongoing strike by bus and lorry operators was per se illegal and directed them to withdraw the same immediately.

Chief Justice V K Bali made these observations verbally when the public interest petition filed by Mr K U Paul from Kochi came up before the bench, consisting of the Chief Justice and Justice P R Raman, this morning.

The Chief Justice directed the counsel appearing for the bus and lorry operators that they should withdraw the strike, which entered its fifth day today immediately.

The counsel sought some time to seek instructions from the operators and the court adjourned the matter briefly.
