HC rejects anticipatory bail pleas of accused
Kochi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today dismissed the anticipatory bail applications of a second and third accused, Shaji and Mujeeb, in the Adimali sex racket case, in which a young girl allegedly committed suicide last week.
Justice J M James directed the accused to surrender before the investigating officer at the Vellathooval police station on November 13 between 0930 and 1000 hrs. The investigating officer will interrogate them and then produce them before the magisterial court, which can consider their bail applications as per law, the court said.
Justice James dismissed the anticipatory bail pleas after Director General of Prosecution P G Thambi opposed the petitions on the ground that the investigation in the case was going on and anticipatory bail could not be granted at this stage.
The accused, in their plea, contended that they were innocent and not involved in the case, in which seventeen-year-old Sandhya, hailing from a poor family, was lured to act in TV serials and trapped into a sex racket.
