Harmanpreet slams seven in Chandigarh school win in Nehru hockey
New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) Harmanpreet Singh slammed seven goals including a hat-trick as Government Model High School, Chandigarh, made merry with a 15-0 spanking of Jesus Infant Higher Secondary School, Kathua (J&K) in a league tie of the 35th Nehru Junior Hockey tournament here today.
Harmanpreet sounded the board in the sixth, seventh, eighth, 18th, 19th, 25th and 49th minutes while Preetinder Singh (ninth, 38th) contributed two goals and Rupinder Pal Singh (12th), Bajinder Singh (16th), Dharamvir Singh (20th), Harinder Singh (33rd), Dapinder Pal Singh (37th) and Deepak Kumar (47th) scored a goal apiece.
In another high-scoring and one-sided match, local Guru Harkrishan Public School thrashed Punjab Public School, Nabha 8-0 with Ravinder Tewatia (52nd, 54th) netting twice and Laxmi Shankar Yadav (14th), Satish Kumar (15th), Mohd Farogh Alvi (42nd), Mehtab Singh (46th), Sajjan Singh (50th), Kamlesh Rai (53rd) scoring one goal apiece.
Earlier in the day, S Vishnu scored a hat-trick for GV Raja Sports School, Thiruvananthapuram to whip Damodar English High School, Goa 5-1 in another league encounter.
Vishnu scored in the 16th, 30th and 38th minutes while S Shiller sounded the board twice in the 14th and 47th minutes.
In the only closely fought match of the day, CRZ Senior Secondary School, Sonepat, beat Dhudlal Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Patiala, 2-1.
Anil Paliwal (22nd, 31st) scored a brace for the Sonepat school while Kanwarjit reduced the margin for Patiala school in the 46th minute.
