Harinderpal shocks Nandrajog, to meet Ritwik in final
Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) Top seed Ritwik Bhattacharya and Harinderpal Singh set up the Men's Open final in the 63rd CCI Indiabulls Western India Squash Championship, co-sponsored by Lifebuoy, at the Cricket Club of India here today.
Bhattacharya, the highest ranking Indian in the world at 38, beat Vikas Jangra of the Services 9-0, 9-3, 9-2, while Harinderpal of Chennai shocked second seed Gaurav Nandrajog 9-3, 3-9, 9-6, 10-8 in a pulsating second semi-final that lasted one hour and 45 minutes.
Among the juniors, Vikram Malhotra and Mahesh Mangaonkar of Mumbai set themselves up for a double.
Malhotra entered the boys' under-19 and under-17 finals, while Mangaonkar stormed into the boys under-15 and under-13 finals.
Sanjay Pawar, who shocked top seed Mahesh Verma on Thursday, cliched his maiden title when he beat Sachin Jadhav 3-0 in the Professionals final. Son of 10-time CCI-Western India Professionals winner Chandrakant Pawar, Sanjay raced to a 9-1, 9-0, 9-4 triumph.
