Freight, passenger loading earns ECoR Rs 2030 crore
Bhubaneswar, Nov 3 (UNI) East Coast Railway(ECoR) has earned Rs 2030 crore by increasing its freight loading and passenger carrying capacity during the first half of the current fiscal.
During the first half from April to September, the EcoR had loaded 30.57 million ton of freight by registering an increase of 8.98 per cent than the corresponding period of last financial year and earned Rs 1889.12 crore which accounted a rise of 14.22 per cent revenue compare to the 2005-06 financial year.
On passenger traffic, the ECoR had carried 25.14 millions of passenger by registering on increase of 14.38 per cent than the corresponding period of last financial.
This had earned the ECoR Rs 210.99 crore, an increase of 15.30 per cent than the corresponding period of last year.
ECoR release here claimed that the spectalcular growth has been achieved even after disruption in train movement due to agitations, rail-roko, heavy rainfall and naxalities activities in the revenue generating areas.
The region had witnessed a record of 15 low-pressure resulting nearly 34 per cent rise in the rainfall during the last monsoon.
The major commodity carried by the ECoR included 22.08 million ton of coal, 6.47 million ton iron ore, 1.34 million ton of finished steel, 2.94 million ton of export ore and 2.16 million ton of fertiliser.
