Driving school owner in custody in Al-Badr case
Chennai, Nov 3 (UNI) A special team of Delhi Police and Mysore Central Crime Branch Police took into custody Satish Kumar, owner of a driving school here, for helping Mohamed Fahd, an Al-Badr member arrested by Karnataka police, to get a driving licence from here in the city.
Police said Fahd, a suspected Al-Badr member arrested on October 27, procured the licence from a Regional Transport Office here in a false name during two visits to the city in March and April 2006.
The special team with the aid of city police found that Fahd's uncle Mohamed Koya, hailing from Kerala was running a tea shop in Washermenpet in North Chennai. Fahd used his uncle's address to get the licence, giving his name as Mohamed, son of Koya, police said.
Fahd landed in India in February this year from abroad and after visiting his ancestral home, came here and approached Satish Kumar and got his driving licence. He was reportedly absconding after getting the licence issued by the RTO, Tondiarpet.
The team interrogated Mohamed Koya and he pleaded innocence. He left for Kozhikode, his native town in Kerala for his daughter's marriage.
Unconfirmed reports said the special team had taken Koya into custody along with Satish Kumar.
