Dismiss Angalan from Cabinet: CPI(M)
Puducherry, Nov 3 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today demanded that Puducherry Social Welfare Minister P Angalan be dismissed from the Cabinet as he failed to resign even after the police registered a case against him.
Addressing a press conference here, CPI(M) State Secretary V Perumal demanded that the Minister be booked under the Domestic Violence Act and arrested.
He alleged that the police did not take up the complaint seriously, when Ms Kavi Priya, the second wife of the Minister filed a complaint with the Thirukkanur police.
''They only registered a case only when the All India Democratic Women's Association took up the issue,'' he added.
Kavipriya had mentioned nothing about dowry harassment in her complaint but police had registered the case under the dowry harassment to dilute the seriousness of the issue, he charged.
Meanwhile, Mr Angalan has filed a divorce petition in the family court here.
The hearing on the petition seeking anticipatory bail will be come up for hearing next Monday.
Angalan, who had already divorced his first wife Gracy to marry Kavi Priya, had reportedly married another girl Ambika of Kombakkam.
Following his third marriage, trouble started between him and Kavipriya when the latter opposed it.
