CPWD official given two-year jail term

New Delhi, Nov 03 (UNI) A city court has handed down a two-year jail term to a Central Public Works Department Junior Engineer and fined him Rs 5,000 for acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

CBI Special Judge at Patiala House Courts sentenced CPWD JE Balwan Singh to two years rigorous imprisonment and awarded a Rs 5,000 fine for possessing Rs 6.16 lakh which he could not satisfactorily account for, the investigating agency said.

After investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against Singh in May 2003.
