Court issues arrest warrants against woman IPS Officer

Vijayawada, Nov 3 (UNI) The City Magistrate Court today issued an arrest warrant against a woman IPS Officer and three other police officials for not being present in the Court to attend a private case.

A private case filed by Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) sought issuance of orders to arrest the police officials for booking false cases against the lawers in 1997. The police officials had raided the BBA charging that the advocates were indulging in gambling. Four advocates were taken into custody.

Since the police officials were not attending the Court proceedings, the third additional metropolitan magistrate Chidananda Murthy issued arrest warrants against the then Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) and the present Warangal District Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra, Circle Inspector Visweswara Rao and two sub-Inspectors Srinivasarao and Gopalakrishna.
