Cong seeks CBI probe into land allotment to RSS-controlled trust
New Delhi,Nov 3(UNI)The Congress today demanded a CBI inquiry into the allotment of prime land in the heart of Jaipur city worth over Rs 10 crore at a meagre cost of Rs 40 lakh to an RSS-controlled trust by the Rajasthan Government, saying the "gift" was in gross violation of the rules.
Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here that the land estimated to cost Rs 10 to 15 crores, not far from the Civil Lines, was allotted to the Trust at 130th of the actual price at a time when the Trust was not even registered. While the Trust was registered in August 2006 the allotment to it was made in July 2006 itself.
"Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is either currying favour with the RSS bosses or buying peace with them,Mr Singhvi said, adding the State Government owed an explanation to the country on this deal which lacked transparancy.
Mr Singhvi said in a sense the Chief Minister had allotted the prime land to herself as she herself happened to be a member of the Trust. Rajasthan Home Minister was also a member of the Trust while the Housing Board Chairman himself was the treasurer of the Trust, which had many RSS Pracharaks in it.
"The allotment of land was so blatant that not even a camouflage was attempted by the Government,"Mr Singhvi said, adding the Govenment had made no distinction between the Government and the RSS which remotely controlled the party.
