Cong censures Aiyar's remark

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Congress today reacted sharply to Union Minister for Panchayat Mani Shankar Aiyar's obervations made before Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon at a function here yesterday.

''Any one holding a responsible position and Constitutional post should use his words carefully before speaking in public,'' Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said when asked for his reaction to Mr Aiyar's comment.

Mr Aiyar had stated in a lighter vein to the Norwegian prince, ''I am coming to you with a begging bowl'' (seeking more aid from Norwegian Government).

Mr Aiyar had said the Govenment was striving to provide infrastructure like panchayat houses, staff and electronic connectivity, for which the Government needed more assistance from the Norwaygian Government.

He was speaking at an effective leadership course for women financed by the Norwegian Government.
