CM getting honorary degree 'cos of helping DU: Harsh Vardhan
New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan today alleged Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was being awarded honorary D.Lit (Doctor of Letters) by the Delhi University because she had allotted Rs 35 crore to the institution.
Claiming she was "unsuccessful and anti-people", he objected to the award been given to her tomorrow and said she had allotted Rs 35 crore to the varsity during the tenure of its last Vice Chancellor Deepak Nayyar.
Mr Nayyar had planned to award D.Lit to the Chief Minister in lieu of this, he alleged. That very plan was being implemented by the present Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental without duly considering it. By doing so he would hit the dignity of the university, he added.
Dr Vardhan said the honorary degree was been awarded to the personalities who had contributed in the fields of art, culture, education, health, literature, science, research, excellent social work and clean and healthy administration.
''But not a single achievement has been registered by Ms Dikshit,'' he added.
He demanded that the chancellor of university should immediately cancel the decision.
