Chinese company to participate in Bengal motorcycle project
Kolkata, Nov 3 (UNI) Work in the Indonesian Salim Group's Mahabharat motorcycle factory will start early next year, as the West Bengal Government today agreed to the participation of a Chinese company in the ambitious project.
Chuang Tsang, the Chinese company, will provide latest technology for manufacturing motorcycles in the Salim's factory at Uluberia in Hooghly district as technology partner of the Indonesian group.
Accompanied by Mr Sontoso and NRI businessman Prasun Mukherjee, a delegation of Chuagn Tsang visited the Writers' Buildings this evening and gave a presentation to the Government officials.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee held a separate meeting with Mr Sontoso to take stock of the progress of various infrastructure projects undertaken by the company in the state and expressed his satisfaction.
''The talks were fruitful. We are hopeful that all the agreements with Salim will be implemented in near future, '' Mr Bhattacharjee told reporters.
The State Government had signed several agreements with the Salim Group for setting up Special Economic Zones, housing projects and construction of an expressway and a bridge for development of the state's pysical infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said the meeting primarily made a detailed review of the progress of these projects.
The meeting was also attended by Industry Minister Nirupam Sen and Mr Mukherjee.
Later Mr Mukherjee said work for construction of the Kukrahati bridge connecting Kolkata with Haldia would start very soon.
He said the Salim Group had also proposed setting up of a food park and a noodle factory in the state over a 400 acre-plot.
