Carmichael House on expansion spree
Chennai, Nov 3 (UNI) S Kumar's Nationwide Ltd had so far opened 37 retail outlets for its premium home textile brand 'The Carmichael House' under the '100 shops in 100 days scheme' which begani in September this year.
Speaking after inaugurating its second franchise shop here today, SKNL CEO Aloke Bannerjee said six more franchise outlets and four company-owned shops would be coming up in the city before the end of the year.
After opening 100 shops, the company would focus on B and C class cities across the country expanding its presence by opening more outlets.
They were working to achieve the goal of becoming number one in home furnishing segment within a couple of years.
The process of setting up special units for producing exclusive export commodities was underway at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh and in Gujarat, he said and added the commercial production would being by April next.
The export of non-branded goods to Europe and the US was worth Rs 55 crore last year and efforts would be made to increase exports of branded goods in the coming years.
Inaugurating the shop, Industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chetty wanted SKNL to make attempts at attracting the middle class customers by introducing low priced variety of home textiles.
