Capital punishment to Santosh shocks Sajasunthua village
Aurangabad, Bihar, Nov 3 (UNI) Capital punishment to Santosh Singh in the Priyadarshini Mattoo rape and murder case has sent shock waves in Sajasuntha, a sleepy village where his father,a retired IPS officer, had spent his early days.
Saryu Singh, Rajendra Singh and Satyanarain Singh--uncles of Santosh, feel that their nephew was implicated in the case as it was hard for them to believe that he could be involved in such a heinous crime. The villagers too shared the same feeling.
Ire against mediapersons was strong as reporters and lensmen of the print and electronic media thronged the village after the Delhi High Court had awarded the death sentence to Santosh Singh.
Santosh's father Yamuna Prasad Singh had done his schooling in this village. Later he graduated from St.Xavier College, Ranchi. Mr Prasad a technocrat, who joined the Indian Police Service, used to visit the village frequently.
