Bomb hoax lands student behind bars
Hubli, Nov 3 (UNI) A student from Dharwad, who allegedly made a phone call stating that a bomb has been planted under a railway bridge near Hulagi between Gadag and Hubli stations, was arrested by the Gadag police today.
Police said the student, Shashidhar Uppaleri, studying at NTTF in Dharwad, had booked a ticket for Guntakal in the Vijayawada-bound Amaravati Express on September 28. He had missed the train and requested the railway authorities to stop it at Gadag or Koppal so that he could catch the train by reaching there in a car.
When he failed to get a positive response from the railway authorities, he telephoned Munirabad control room and said a bomb had been planted under the bridge on which the train was to pass.
When the train was halted following the bomb threat, he managed to board the train near Hospet.
