BJP poser to voters Telangana

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (UNI) Mr Vidyasagar Rao of the BJP who is contesting the by-election to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat, today asked the voters of the constituency to decide on whether a party with four MPs (meaning the TRS) or a national party like the BJP with 180 MPs would be able to achieve separate Telangana state.

The strength of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which had five MPs was reduced to four after the resignation of Mr Chandrasekhara Rao from the Lok Sabha.

The TRS Chief and his colleague, A Narendra quit the Union Cabinet protesting the 'delay in the announcement' of separate Telangana state by the UPA Government.

Mr Chandrasekhara Rao later resigned to his Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat forcing the by-election.

Talking to newsmen at Sarangapur in this district, Mr Vidyasagar Rao challenged the TRS Chief to withdraw from the contest if the BJP agreed to fielding a neutral person like a freedom fighter, economist, artiste or a journalist.

If the Karimnagar MP was elected setting aside politics, his party was willing to work with all parties, including the TRS, for achievement of Telangana state.

He alleged both the Congress and TRS were cheating the people of the Telangana region.

The BJP leader alleged the Second States Re-organisation Commission the Congress was talking about for the formation of Telangana was a ploy to avoid the formation of Telangana state.

He said the separate Telangana would be possible only through the Article III of the constitution. The BJP was for smaller states and had formed three new states during the NDA rule.

The Congress is fielding its MLA T Jeevan Reddy who has an impeccable track record while the TDP has announced the candidature of its Former Karimnagar MP L Ramana making it a tough multi-cornered contest.
