AASU demands sealing of Bangla borders with NE States

Agartala, Nov 3 (UNI) The All Asom Student's Union (AASU) today demanded sealing of all international borders along the North-Eastern states, mainly the Bangladesh border, to stop infiltration of ''extremists or illegal citizens'' from that country.

Speaking to UNI, AASU President Shankar Roy and General Secretary Tapan Gogoi, after visiting the border areas said the Bangladesh borders with all the NE states should be sealed immediately and pending fencing works be completed in a short span of time.

The student's organisation has requested Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to make an on-the-spot study of the international borders with the NE states and take steps to complete fencing work urgently.

The AASU leaders and the state government also alleged that the fence erection works on the border were of very low standard.
