Tight vigil against naxals, ultras in UK dist
Sirsi, Karnataka, Nov 2 (UNI) Police are maintaining a tight vigil against the entry of terrorists and naxalites into Uttara Kannada district, Superintendent of Police S Ravi said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said naxals and militants had not set foot in the district due to strict and constant vigilance at Sarpanakatta and Majali, the entry points into the district. Five checkposts have been set up in NH-17 for the purpose, he added.
To a question, Mr Ravi said the police department had a mutual understanding with the authorities of Project Seabird at Karwar to give information about terrorists who might arrive here in stray ships.
About the traffic jam in Goa-Mangalore and Hubli-Ankola highways, he said the district administration and police department had jointly requested the transport department to set up parking zones at every 20 km distance to avoid lorries parking in a haphazard manner on highways.
