Telangana in 2 months on winning Karimnagar LS seat: BJP
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 2 (UNI) The BJP today kicked off its campaign for the by- election to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat with a promise to form Telangana in two months if its candidate and Former Union Minister Vidyasagar Rao was elected.
Launching the party campaign at Gopalraopet, Party Official Spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said it was possible only for the BJP, which had 180 MPs, to form the separate state.
The Karimnagar seat was vacated by TRS Chief and Former Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao who earlier resigned from the Cabinet protesting the delay in the announcement of a separate state.
The TRS leader said the bypoll will be a referendum on Telangana and he would be contesting on TRS ticket.
Though the BJP was for Telangana, it chose not to support Mr Chandrasekhara Rao and fielded Mr Vidyasagara Rao.
The Congress had fielded sitting MLA T Jeevan Reddy while the TDP nominated Former Karimnagar MP L Ramana making it a multi-cornered contest.
Mr Javdekar claimed 180 MPs were behind Mr Vidyasagara Rao and asserted that no other party could achieve Telangana.
