Punjab to extend financial aid to World War II veterans
Chandigarh, Nov 2 (UNI) The Punjab Government would provide financial aid to the World-War-II veterans to the tune of Rs 50 lakh every year.
Brig J S Jaswal, Director Sainik Welfare, Punjab said here today that the assistance would be provided to the needy soldiers or the widows of World War-II soldiers after assessing their present financial condition.
The needy war veterans aged more than 85 years or war widows who were more than 80 years old, could send their applications to the District Sainik Welfare offices upto November 10, 2006, he said.
The financial aid of Rs 50,000 would be offered in a state-level function to 100 beneficiaries as one-time help by the Small Savings Department.
