Prince Andrew inaugurates BDHC's new building in city
Chennai, Nov 2 (UNI) Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, today inaugurated a new building of the British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) here.
He lit the traditional lamp and unveiled a plaque to mark the inauguration.
Later, he said the new building had become fully functional and it reinforced the United Kingdom's commitment to South India.
The BDHC in Chennai would deal with approximately 120,000 visa applications during 2006. It was currently the sixth busiest UK visa post in the world and had the largest business express programme in India.
It will also deal with the highest volume of work permits for the health care and IT sectors in the UK.
