Prince Andrew wishes commercial relations with SI

Chennai, Nov 2: Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, today envisaged closer commercial relations between the United Kingdom and South India.

The Duke was currently touring India in his capacity as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment to support UK companies at the global level.

Inaugurating a seminar on 'Advanced Vehicle Engineering' at the British Deputy High Commission here, he said both the UK and South India had synergy in several areas. They both could work together in manufacture and design of a whole range of vehicles including three and four wheelers as they had required facilities, he added.

He said the seminar organised by UK-based Motor Industries Research Association (MIRA) demonstrated the UK's commitment to forge closer economic ties with this part of the country.

''The focus is not only on travel and vehicles, but also on the commercial relations between the two,'' he added.

The seminar, attended by top automotive design firms in Chennai, aimed at providing design engineering companies and vehicle manufacturers with a technical overview of MIRA's capabilities and experience in different areas of advanced vehicle engineering.
