Over 31 lakh tonnes paddy arrive in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 2 (UNI) Over 31.70 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.

Stating this here today, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that out of the total paddy arrival, 25.73 lakh tonnes was leviable and 5.97 lakh tonnes was basmati and of other superior quality.

He said over 19.11 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six government agencies at the minimum support price and the remaining 12.59 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included 6.62 lakh tonnes of leviable and 5.97 lakh tonnes of non-leviable paddy.

Hafed had procured 8.42 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 5.75 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation with about 2.25 lakh tonnes, Confed with about 1.60 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 96,654 tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,664 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with about 6.55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal with 4.69 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 4.66 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.14 lakh tonnes and Ambala 2.61 lakh tonnes.
