New schemes in employment, health, education sectors: Selja
Ambala, Nov 2 (UNI) The Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja stated here that new programmes were being introduced in areas like employment, health, education, rural infrastructure and urban renewal besides providing legal framework for the Right to Information to the people.
Under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan scheme, the Centre released Rs 19,858 Lakh for the year 2005-06 under which 3847 teachers were recruited.
More than 84,000 children were admitted under Alternative and Innovative Education scheme and about 1200 school buildings were constructed. She said under the Mid Day Meal Scheme Rs 3581 lakh were disbursed and more than 28,672 metric tonnes foodgrains allocated. She said that 9343 institutions with 16.45 lakh children were covered in Haryana under the scheme.
Advocating the implementation of Integrated Children Development Scheme in Haryana, she informed that 116 ICDS projects and 13,546 Anganwari Centres were in operation where 4,41,037 children in the age group of six months to six years and 2,33,708 pregnant and lactating mothers were getting benefits.
The state had also received a sum of Rs 1810 lakh from the Centre for Supplementary Nutrition Programme. She said that under the Indira Awas Yojna, an amount of Rs 20.08 crore was released and 7037 dwelling units were constructed.
The union minister also stated that 47,250 households were registered for which 22,674 job cards were issued, of which 6602 persons were provided employment.
She said that under Bharat Nirman project, six areas were covered under the time-bound plan in rural areas which were rural electrification, rural water supply, rural housing, roads, irrigation and rural connectivity.
She said that elevated highway at Panipat, widening of National Highways to four and six lanes, elevated road at Badarpur and extension of Delhi Metro to Gurgaon were being undertaken.
