NE historians to focus regional history

Aizawl, Nov 02 (UNI) Northeast India History Association (NEHA) has initiated to promote the scientific and objective study of historical development of Northeast and urged the academicians to focus the issue at the national level.

Addressing the 27th session of the association in Mizoram University today, NEHA president Professor S Dutta expressed concern over the slow progress of historical accouts of the region.

''In fact the history of NE is not getting it's due place in the national forum and that led a group of historians here to float NEHA to highlight the regional issues at national level'', Prof Dutta said.

He said the NEHA has already published 26 proceedings on historical issues of the region, which have found considerable popularity among the scholars from various parts of the country.
