MOU signed for research in Unani medicine
New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) In an effort to globalise the Unani system of medicine, the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly undertake research in various areas of fundamental and applied system of this medicine.
The MOU provides for value addition to existing clinical trials, protocols, standardisation of formulations and training in research methodology bio-physics, an official release said.
It was signed by Dr Mohammed Khalid Siddique, Director CCRUM and DR N K Ganguly, Director General of ICMR. The MoU, valid for five years, will pave way for international acceptance of unani medicines. The MoU will also help for industry association in research and development and training of manpower in unani medicine.
The CCRUM, which has done commendable job in control of a number of diseases, will send to the ICMR for clinical trial data on Bronchial Asthma, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriasis. The two will also work jointly to control malaria.
