Mizoram govt to develop historical Mizo sites
Aizawl, Nov 02 (UNI) The Mizoram government will invest Rs 18.12 crore to develop its two historial sites, famous for their natural treasures.
The investment plan aimed at to tap its tourism potential as the state recently witnessed considerable inflow of travellers both home and abroad, state tourism minister Z.H.Ropuia told UNI.
He said the two propsoed sites -- Chalfilh and Chaltlang, are the hilly regions and home of many rare plants, perched some 40 km from Aizawl.
Chalfilh also boasts for exotic avian species such as spotted doves, hornbills, paradise, flycatchres and Blyth's tragapons.
Mr Ropuia said the plan also included dividing Mizoram into three tourism circuits around Aizawl and Lunglei on National Highway 54, Champhai on the border with Myanmar and the state's northern belt.
Apart from this, the Centre also decided to fund some Rs 20 crore for developing tourism infrastructure in these proposed circuits.
The funds would be utilised for setting up the region's first aero-sports project in the capital city, he said adding the state government also has sought funds from the Centre to setup a flying club, where a 14-seater plan will offer tourists an aerial view of the town.
