Metropolitan police in Kathmandu from Nov 17

Kathmandu, Nov 2: Nepal Police has said it will start Metropolitan Police in three districts from November 17 to strengthen law and security situation in the Himalayan nation.

About 13,752 police personnel will be recruited in nine division comprising Peace and Security, Administration, Human Resource Management, Intelligence, Special Security, Traffic Management, Investigation, Technical Support and License Issuing Divisions, Inspector General of Police Om Bikram Rana said.

A budget of Rs 50 million has been set for the purpose and the work will be completed in five phases.

Additional Inspector General of Police will head the metropolitan police.
