Srinagar, Nov 2 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today registered a case of possession of disproportionate assets against a senior public undertaking official who owned a house worth Rs three crore with its main gate alone costing Rs four lakh.
An official spokesman said the vigilance organisation had received complaints against State Industrial Corporation (SICOP) Deputy General Manager Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, alleging that he was indulging in corrupt practices and had raised huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The assets included a palatial house constructed in a posh locality of Hyderpora on the Srinagar-Airport road here, he added.
The spokesman said vigilance sleuths searched his house this morning. The searches revealed that the house was centrally-heated and decorated with state-of-the-art fittings and fixtures costing lakhs of rupees.
There were number of bathrooms having modern gadgets, including steam bath cabins and other luxury items, he said, adding the interiors of the whole house were decorated with exquisite ceiling while the outer walls had Rajasthan brick tiles.
The house has a remote-operated main gate costing more than Rs four lakh and its total value was about Rs 3 crore.
The spokesman said the search led to the recovery of a number of incriminating documents including the details of bank accounts and insurance policies. A locker has also been detected in a branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank which was yet to be opened and searched.
The accused was paying an annual premium of Rs 3 lakh on his various insurance policies held in the name of his family members.
The spokesman said calculations of his bank balance was being carried out as the searches were in progress. The accused had also recently purchased a plot of land measuring four kanals near the HMT at Shalteng costing over Rs one crore, he added.
