Haryana to start helplines to book corrupt cops
Chandigarh, Nov 2 (UNI) The Haryana Police will soon set up toll-free telephone lines for the public to lodge complaint against corrupt policemen, newly-appointed Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjiv Singh Dalal said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Dalal, who has also served as the Director Vigilance Bureau said, his topmost priority would be to provide a transparent, truthful and corruption-free police force to the state.
''Corrupt police officers and personnel must be brought to the book and we will soon set up toll-free telephone lines for the purpose,'' he said.
He said the police would continue to deal firmly with the gangsters and also take steps to prevent crime resulting out of social issues like casteism and atrocities committed against members belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
When his attention was drawn towards recent spurt of murder cases in Faridabad district, he said he would visit Faridabad next week to personally take stock of the situation.
In response to a question he said, the progress in various cases against former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala pending with the Vigilance Bureau was satisfactory.
