Govt approves special repair works on NH-45 A in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu has approved special repair works on NH 45 A at the Parangipettai and Bhuvanagiri-Chidambaram sections in Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 598.63 lakh.

This would also include the reconstruction of 14 cross-drainage falling in this stretch, a ministry official said today.

Villupuram-Pondy-Nagapattinam road is one of the important National Highways running along the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu connecting important pilgrimage centres in the state.

The two stretches on this Highway have developed cracks due to heavy traffic movement and unprecedented floods in November last year. Moreover, these were also damaged during the tsunami in 2004, creating severe problems for the vehicular traffic.
